@bonforte I couldn’t be more disappointed with Yahoo’s treatment of groups users. Forum feedback from staff is insulting and condescending.

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 26 Sep

@bonforte the fact you have stayed silent is the most disappointing of all. Sad you would let this go on, much less w/o comment.

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 26 Sep

@bonforte Three weeks and still having SAME issues with groups not working, your staff say “fixed”, its clearly not. Threads closed anyway.

********************************

Jeff Bonforte ‏@bonforte

@Tyger_Bryte We’re focused on bug fixes, scalability & feature development for Neo. We appreciate the feedback. There will be no roll back.

1:26 PM – 28 Sep 13 from Duboce Triangle, San Francisco

********************************

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 28 Sep

@bonforte Then we have no reason to stay. Enjoy puttering in your empty house.

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 28 Sep

@bonforte Since you are done with the original eGroups code then, can we have it? Or could someone buy it off Yahoo?

********************************

Matthew Pitts ‏@n8ohu 28 Sep

@bonforte @Tyger_Bryte It’s not just Groups either; Neo Mail doesn’t work anywhere as efficiently as Classic Mail did for over 10 years.

********************************

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 28 Sep

@n8ohu It’s very sad. Ymail can’t even autofill an e-mail address Using YG and YM together is a nightmare

********************************

Matthew Pitts ‏@n8ohu 28 Sep

@Tyger_Bryte agreed, which is sad.

********************************

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 28 Sep

@bonforte @Tyger_Bryte Well this is bullshit. Yahoo is done.

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 28 Sep

@bonforte @Tyger_Bryte In France, the term “neo” refers to Neo Nazis. Just an FYI. That CEO is the “ideal race” I take it.

********************************

Jeff Bonforte ‏@bonforte 30 Sep

@HinduUrro @tyger_bryte Indeed, if we don’t rollback to the year 2000 Groups, that makes me a Nazi. A perfect summary of this discussion.

********************************

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte Don’t put me in this camp. I have no idea who @HinduUrro is nor do I share that school of thought.

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte My issue is that Yahoo has behaved thoughtlessly to users on a bigger scale that I’ve ever seen. The usability was better in 2000.

********************************

Jenn ‏@jenn_ay_em 30 Sep

@bonforte And why we’ll probably close our 18K member Freecycle group. Yahoo sucks now with this Neo virus.

********************************

Jeff Bonforte ‏@bonforte 30 Sep

@jenn_ay_em Sorry to hear you will be closing your group and that you are unhappy with the updates to Groups.

********************************

Jenn ‏@jenn_ay_em 30 Sep

@bonforte Less eyes on your ads & more stuff in the trash. The “updates” make moderating a *nightmare*, esp. to easily search activity.

********************************

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte It doesn’t make you Hitler. I can think of several other analogies much more apt though. Such as: pic.twitter.com/yME125XYt9

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte How much is you personally vs your company vs your groups team I wouldn’t know, but I’m long past caring. Effect is the same.

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte You may think you are doing something beneficial, but this is how it’s playing. pic.twitter.com/0sMGun4hcb

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte An entire group quit YG, furious over the choice of the word Neo, BTW. Same concern as Hindu has. 4817 members gone because “Neo”.

********************************

Jeff Bonforte ‏@bonforte 30 Sep

@Tyger_Bryte that is non-productive. It is an internal reference used by the engineering team. We just call it “updated Groups” generally.

********************************

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte Here’s the issue: http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/modsandmembers/conversations/messages/5439 … “Odd” is not understanding that.

********************************

Jeff Bonforte ‏@bonforte

@Tyger_Bryte Neo is from the Matrix and used freq by geeks. It means “new” in Greek. Connecting to Nazi is a stretch. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo 10:45 PM – 30 Sep 13

********************************

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte …you pop off with that winning comment? You seem to have no clue about the real issue here.

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte Its not that anyone thinks you are a Nazi, the issue is that you didn’t do your homework. Google “Yahoo Neo” you get hate groups.

********************************

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 30 Sep

@bonforte @Tyger_Bryte It wasn’t JUST the word. It was the fact that you’v e taken away something they enjoyed! Neo is the Wall again.

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 30 Sep

@bonforte You know what? What about that coastline? It’s MUCH older than 2000, so what about changing that up? Take that away cuz its old.

********************************

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte Sleep was elusive. But please tell me you are not this sheltered. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Nazism

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte Neo is many, many things. Nazis are one of those things. People live near them. It matters to them.Yahoo is a global product, no?

********************************

Matthew Pitts ‏@n8ohu 2 Oct

@bonforte @Tyger_Bryte Yes, but why is Yahoo so intent on turning the noble Neo from the Matrix into Agent Smith, since you brought it up.

********************************

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 4 Oct

@bonforte *sigh* The word in some countries doesn’t mean new other than Neo Nazi. It might not be much in USA, but elsewhere….O.o

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 4 Oct

@bonforte FWIW, I never called you a Nazi. I pointed out a language satistic.

********************************

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte You don’t seem to appreciate that you’ve harmed users and haven’t so much as offered even a partial apology anywhere and then…

********************************

Jeff Bonforte ‏@bonforte

@Tyger_Bryte I know you guys feel like we are being thoughtless. We aren’t trying to be, but I appreciate it can feel that way. 7:47 PM – 30 Sep 13 from Castro, San Francisco

********************************

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte Then do something about it! Make a statement! Apologize to users, Anything would help.

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte In the time it took to respond to me, you could have composed half a blog post to explain things.

********************************

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 30 Sep

@bonforte If you’re truly not being thoughtless, then GIVE the people the OPTION to switch back to what they want! Don’t use force!

********************************

Jeff Bonforte ‏@bonforte 30 Sep

@HinduUrro it doesn’t work that way unfortunately. The old platform is just about to fall apart. It’s new Groups or no Groups at this point.

********************************

30 Sep

@bonforte @HinduUrro Sorry to jump this one — If the new had mimicked the old exactly (and worked of course): Less harm done. Why not?

********************************

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 30 Sep

@bonforte Oh come on! The only reason the screw-ups were happening is because of the neo formet forced into Mail. Neo is the prob.

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 30 Sep

@bonforte Also the servers are still good. Maintenance is still on the clock. I agree with Tyger. And how does an interface fall apart?

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 30 Sep

@bonforte You know, I could send you a LIST of inactive spammed groups to consider for removal. Problem is in the storage, not Classic UI

********************************

Matthew Pitts ‏@n8ohu 2 Oct

@bonforte Jeff, apparently a lot of people feel the same way; why do you think so many groups have left because you won’t give us Classic?

********************************

Andrew Seales ‏@AndySeales80221 4 Oct

@bonforte @HinduUrro Over 51,000 loyal Yahoo users have DEMANDED you dump NEO.Well? Treat your customers with respect

Details

********************************

Andrew Seales ‏@AndySeales80221 4 Oct

@bonforte @HinduUrro If the old platform is about to fall apart. Its your obligation to your customers to fix it,rather than fixing NEO

Details

********************************

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 4 Oct

@AndySeales80221 EXACTLY! I wonder why they don’t get that? BTW there is no fixing neo because it’s corruptable from get-go. They’re stoned.

Details

********************************

Jeff Bonforte ‏@bonforte 5 Oct

@AndySeales80221 @HinduUrro it isn’t going to happen. The New Groups is here to stay.

********************************

Hindu Urro ‏@HinduUrro 5 Oct

@bonforte @AndySeales80221 New-neo isn’t. Because neo is already crumbling. This idea that it’s forever is just your opinion. Nothing more

5 Oct

@bonforte @AndySeales80221 However though, Classic stood up.

Details

********************************

Matthew Pitts ‏@n8ohu 6 Oct

@bonforte @AndySeales80221 Even though it doesn’t work for the very people you claim to be making it better for; mobile users need simple.

Details

Matthew Pitts ‏@n8ohu 6 Oct

@bonforte Neo looks terrible with the Group image covering most of the screen; at least with Classic I could work with groups while mobile.

********************************

Jeff Bonforte ‏@bonforte 30 Sep

@HinduUrro there aren’t two or three versions of Gmail or Twitter or Facebook. These only work as one service.

********************************

@bonforte Mr. Bonforte that there are 2+ versions of things. Gmail,/Ggroups. Facebook,/Facebook Groups. So why not Yahoo?/Yahoo Groups?

********************************

Jeff Bonforte ‏@bonforte 30 Sep

@Tyger_Bryte the issue is that the accusations in the letter were so extreme it made a response an issue for lawyers.

********************************

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte The letter is just one condensation of the issues. It’s not much exaggeration, honestly. The reality is pretty bad.

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte You can address the issues without the letter itself.

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte (do you wanna continue via email? 144 is getting tough. I’ll play nice.)

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte One side, in that lawyers have to advise on your response you mean?

Details

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte I can understand if the boss says “shut up for now”, of course. It happens.

Tyger Bryte ‏@Tyger_Bryte 30 Sep

@bonforte @HinduUrro Sorry to jump this one — If the new had mimicked the old exactly (and worked of course): Less harm done. Why not?
